Seriously, so many wedding bells this year! And I am not complaining. I love weddings and they’re my excuse to see my friends and family who all live too far away. But the wedding season sort of snuck up on me and I realized I didn’t have dresses for any of the receptions or rehearsal dinners! A lot of my cocktail dresses are a few years old, and frankly, they do not fit the ass that I have right now. Sorry, but trying on 6 dresses that don’t fit didn’t exactly make me feel like a princess.
So I went shopping! It really can cure all sorts of heartache. I chose this navy, off the shoulder dress from Julia Hengel’s new Gal Meets Glam Collection and I couldn’t be happier with it. And, of course, it has pockets! Every girl’s dream. I still have a few more dresses to pick out so I’ve shared the ones I’m eyeing at Nordstrom, the haven of dresses really (all under $160!).
This red, midi number would be great for my college friends’ wedding. It’s a little sexy and definitely makes me feel like I’m in my 20s, which I am. I like the added length though to keep me from looking like I just came from the beach.
This blue dress from Tahari sort of goes in the other direction for me. At family weddings I’d rather be modest and cute and this is the perfect dress for that. The bright blue and ruffle sleeves are fun, but the high neckline and length make it family friendly. Plus, I’ll be in a church all day and I feel so weird if my dress is too short #catholicguilt.
The problem with so many weddings has been trying to have a different outfit for each one without spending all my money before going back to school. I’m all for recycling clothes, but maybe not within the same month. Now I have a system. Nude accessories to go with every dress! I know it’s not rocket science or anything, but it’s exciting for me. I want to be cute and fashionable and take great pics for the blog, but I also have to buy groceries and toilet paper.
Nude strappy sandals can go with so many dresses and also elevate a casual dress to cocktail attire. This pair are similar to mine and I love the block heel. They’re more comfortable and you won’t sink into the grass at the outdoor affairs.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but Baublebar as created a line for Target at a truly amazing price point. The SUGARFIX line includes a whole bunch of statement jewelry and no one would know the difference. I bought this pair last week and I already have them planned for two rehearsal dinners and one ceremony.
This purse is on my soon-to-buy list. It’s the classic nude color (also comes in pastel blue and grey) and just the right size. I love that it can be a cross body or I can carry it by the handle. Makes it even easier to take to every event without looking the same. I know clutches are still popular, but I just need a handle or strap. I am high maintenance like that.
I’m sure you’re in the same wedding boat as me so I hope you can find some stress relief from my mix & match recycling ideas.
